Dishwasher Control -2

Dishwasher Control with Multiple User Interfaces

This carefully developed electronic dishwasher control has a door mounted control panel for high end residential appliance OEM.

Case Study:

PROBLEM:

A residential appliance OEM had issues with their dishwasher control; a host of noise issues had delayed plant start up and product launch and created field service issues. Elan was asked to resolve the issue.

ELAN SOLUTION:

Elan initially reviewed the existing design to make suggestions but ultimately the OEM asked Elan to re-design the control.

RESULTS:

Elan completed the control and the user interface adding more features, better control, reliable operation, data logging for event monitoring, etc. The customer wanted to develop Energy Star operating tables; Elan created an easy utility to upload Excel tables direct to the control (Energy Star rating was granted). The customer introduced a de-featured line; the control was updated to operate both lines with the same SKU. The test procedure on the previous control was non-comprehensive and took nearly an hour; Elan’s control can test every operation in a matter of minutes. The unit has been in the field for over (2) years with no field warrant issues.

 Ice Maker & Ice/Water Dispenser

This platform for ice maker and ice/water dispenser is a product that helps OEMs differentiate their model lines with custom-designed user interfaces.

Case Study:

PROBLEM:

A commercial ice-making equipment OEM wanted to tackle a new untapped market. They desired an upscale look and feel for the user interface consistent with their strategic vision.

ELAN SOLUTION:

Elan proposed a user Interface (UI) using capacitive touch technology used in high end appliances to capture the high-end look desired by the OEM. In addition, the machine control, with UI disconnected, can retrofit into their existing models, providing the opportunity to share the control across multiple platforms. Further, an integrated switching power supply means the control accepts universal voltage so that domestic and foreign models can use the same control.

RESULTS:

The UI look is fantastic. The new control was featured in the Technology Showcase at the NAFEM (North American Food Equipment Manufacturers) show in 2011. Elan provided software at no charge to aid the OEM in defining operation for different models; the control has already been selected for additional new models being introduced to support all with the same SKU control.
